Spastic Dreams

Lately I'm having a lot of vivid and strange dreams. It's probably from too many vegetables & fruit instead of sugar.

This morning's still has me out of sorts. I was hanging out with someone I used to date. He was more like a blend of guys I've dated in an unfamiliar body. The spirit was familiar but the face was vague.

He started out harmless but became progressively sinister. He was running errands around town and I was tagging along, but we were not having a good time. We were bickering and after a while I realized I needed to get away.

We ended up at someone's house - a mcmansion-type house in the suburbs. Walking up to the house, I could see into the open garage a set of golf clubs strewn on the ground. I knew he was going to use one of those clubs to beat the shit out of me.

Then I woke up.

There have been many others, but mostly fun up til now. I loved the one where I was "skiing" on flat, red sand in Australia on short, wide skis and I was able to get up to to extremely high speeds just by turning side to side. Would love to go back to that one.

Then there was the one where I was a lesbian with a long-term partner, who wasn't David (duh) and he wasn't too happy about that (contrary to porn movie plots). That one was actually pretty sad. But he reassured me (while fully conscious) that he wasn't going anywhere.

I might need a cupcake pretty soon.

Analyze This

Lots of weird dreams lately. Nothing I can remember too clearly, until this morning.

I distinctly remember watching my dream like it was a movie - a really bad B horror flick.

It's late at night on an empty, secluded beach, somewhere in Hawaii maybe. A young adult couple frolics down the beach, running, the man chasing the woman. The woman is topless and has a beautiful rack - really beautiful.

She and her boyfriend run down the beach laughing, having a great time. Then they go into what looks like an old government office building right on the beach, like an old DMV office - faded beige metal siding with old aluminum-framed windows. Not much furniture inside other than a couple of old metal desks left in the middle of the large, empty room. It's been empty for a very long time.

They run into the building and off to the right - he's still chasing her and she's laughing - great fun - good times. At this point I join the dream. Something's about to happen but I'm not sure what. I'm crouched in the entry foyer, below the inside windows. The couple can't see me and I can't warn them about what's inside, behind the wall on the left.

There's a light outside that shines into the windows, bright moonlight, maybe - I can see everything clearly. It's quiet now - I can't hear the young couple but they're oblivious. I turn to look at the thing I knew was coming - I can't see it - it's invisible - but the light shows me a shadow of its skeleton on the inside wall.

It's a T-Rex, silently creeping around the wall toward the happy young couple. Before they know what's upon them, it begins to tear them apart, blood splattering everywhere. There is still no sound, just sprays of blood all over the walls. The end.

I woke up and didn't feel at all frightened or disturbed. Just another day. It was time to feed the cats.

Fraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaak

I need to go to sleep and wake up in Canada, all moved and settled in whilst I was snoozing. Doing all this by myself is bullllllshit. Not feeling so positive today, obviously. I'm overwhelmed and every time I turn around there's another issue/problem/whining cat/deranged garage sale lady.

A few days after the garage sale, which was a couple of weekends ago, a weird lady came back to the house asking for a transformer for a lamp she bought. I should have told her then I wouldn't go looking for it and I should have shoved a $5 bill into her crabby, wrinkled mouth.

But I thought we might actually have it somewhere, so I told her I'd see if I could find it and asked if she lived in town. She said she didn't and that she'd be back the next day. Great! After she left I closed the curtains and locked the porch screen door.

Sure enough, she came back the next day and when she couldn't get the screen door open, she knocked/clawed at the front window. Funny, but that will never make me want to come to the door, so I kept working and eventually she left.

She came back again when I was actually not home and left a friggin' note on the door. I'm no accountant, but if she doesn't live relatively close by, she's just spent another $5 making repeated trips to my house.

I'd have gladly given her money back the first time, but I honestly thought she'd find the transformer on eBay or elsewhere, rather than keep stinging me like an angry wasp.

Came home today after a shoot and guess what was sitting on my porch? The goddamn lamp she bought with a self-addressed, stamped envelope taped to it. I know what you're thinking because it was my first thought, too - What should I send her in that little envelope?

Of course I'll do the right thing and send her money back, but it might be graphically enhanced and very securely taped to another piece of paper, or it could end up soaked in tuna oil right before it makes it into the envelope, because these things happen sometimes.

What a giant waste of time and energy. She must be a joy to live with. Speaking of joys, people have GOT to stop walking in front of the lens when I'm trying to photograph their goddamn properties.

Do you not see the big tripod and the shit attached to the top of it that makes the pretty pictures? Do you think we can just photoshop out the blurred vision of you obscuring the view, oblivious to the rest of the world and the people in it? Is my job somehow not as important as yours?

Unfortunately, because I'm a jangled mess of nerves right now, I actually told a guy today to please stop walking in front of the camera and to either come up or go down the stairs - one or the other, because I need to get the shot and move on.

Speaking of moving on... I had the flying dream again last night, but sadly, I was flying in and around a house to survey the best shots. Right after that, I was talking to Jennifer Aniston at a party. She'd had a major face lift and was still in recovery. As one might expect, she was aloof and not at all as friendly as you might hope she'd be.

Psychic Update 1/31

Meatballs. That was the answer to "What am I thinking right now?" wasn't it?

I'm trying to finish the first book, but it's slow going. It's interesting stuff, but I'm reading it in bed and it's not the kind of thing you can just skim and absorb. I end up getting sleepy after a couple of pages.

I did have a dream last night that a friend revamped her blog to be about restaurant reviews - "Meal Vehicle," it was called. (It rhymed much better in my dream - "meal" was pronounced mee-uhl - two distinct syllables.)

I also dreamt that I was on another cruise with my mother and she was buying me Hello Kitty no-skid slipper socks at the gift shop. I'm excited to find out if either dream becomes reality.

So far, the book talks a lot about intuition and tuning into and trusting that inner voice, and that all things in the world have a specific vibration. You know, that you can tune into.

There are two exercises in the book I haven't done yet - I look forward to giving those a try. Maybe had I already practiced a little, I'd have known that David was headed to the UK for an extended stay, or that I wouldn't really need to rush to make a last-minute appointment yesterday because she'd ultimately end up canceling.

Action Movie Dream!

It was late at night when a friend and I were at my parents' place in San Jose, talking to my Dad on the side yard as a party was going on in the back yard. We asked him about the best way to get out of the neighborhood under the cover of darkness...

Suddenly we were running down a city sidewalk - just like the sidewalk on the southeast side of Market & Beale, headed toward the Embarcadero.

The sidewalk was covered like a breezeway and had frosted glass wall/partitions on the street side - modern & futuristic-looking - and it was crowded with people. As we ran, someone behind us was shooting at us. They missed me, but my friend was hit. She faded away.

Time passed. I was at a restaurant in another city - outside on its back patio - still hiding from my pursuers, but I was in their neighborhood - they were everywhere.

So much time had passed (months? years?), there were new people in the gang, people who weren't involved in the original chase and didn't know what I looked like. I only knew who they were because they were talking about their business.

I quickly left the restaurant and began sprinting down the sidewalk. I knew they'd soon figure out I'd been there and they'd be after me.

It was a residential neighborhood with brick row houses and low brick walls all along the sidewalk - no way to easily get between the houses to cut through the yards.

I rounded the corner of a block and kept running - it was the long side of the block. By this time, one of them was behind me. He stopped and went up the front steps of the corner house to set up his gun - a nasty-looking metal arrow/spear gun/rifle.

I knew within moments he'd be ready to fire and would have an easy time aiming at me because the the brick walls and tightly-packed houses had me confined to the street/sidewalk. I ran and crouched, ran again and crouched - I started to panic.

As I got closer to the end of the block, I saw that my team was there - they were fighting these guys and knew I was coming down the street.

I shouted to my guy on the corner to shoot the bad guy, then my view changed to show me the bad guy taking his shot. He aimed wide by only a few inches, just missing my head and scarring the brick wall in front of me.

My guy took his shot with the same sort of spear gun rifle and I saw the small metal spear rocket down the street, pierce the bad guy's neck and continue up into his jaw bone, blowing his head clean off in a fantastic cranial explosion.

I'd been saved.

REM

Since quitting my job, my brain has been dreaming again. That had almost shut down completely when I was still working for The Man.

Even if my head was up my butt most of that time, too tweaked about the ills of that place, why wouldn't my brain keep trying to make sense of it all with a little REM? Wouldn't that have helped?

Or did I let it mess me up a bit too much? OR, is it what I've wondered all along... that the office sits atop an ancient burial ground and the whole place is lousy with evil spirits?

Strange Dreams!

chilly sunrise
It could be the nog, or perhaps the soggy weather - my dreams lately have been all sorts of weird.

Early this week I had another flying dream, where I don't fly so much float... I needed to get home or to work or somewhere - I was somewhere in downtown SF, but it was smaller - the whole city was smaller and the buildings/hills much bigger, like an exaggerated cartoon city.

I didn't want to go a particular way, so I decided to fly, or float, to where I needed to go. I was able to do this by stomping my heel down onto the ground and that propelled me up into the air. In moments I was gazing past Seacliff at the beach where a large group of surfers were hanging out. I don't remember ever arriving where I was headed - I was too caught up in the great view.

Then a couple nights later I had a dream that David decided he did want kids, so we had a kid - it's just that easy! But then after the kid was several months old, he decided he didn't actually want a kid, so he left. And then I had to move and get back into an apartment I once had in Seattle. (I've never lived in Seattle.) To David's credit, after hearing about this dream, reassured me that no matter what, he would not leave!

The next night was another float/fly dream, this time somewhere in central CA near the aqueduct. I drifted over a bluff and was suddenly able to see a secret military air base where top secret (black ops!) planes were doing training exercises. I was freaking out in the dream about seeing all this. I do not remember where/why I was floating around over there. There's not much to do over there, especially if you're just floating around.

Then last night - the weirdest one yet. I was walking home from somewhere, somewhere in the south bay like Cupertino, but it was getting dark and I was about to head into a sketchy part of town (an area with only four starbuck's?). I crossed a street and ended up walking through the edge of a park area that looked like a quarry - rocks and stones were everywhere.

I started chucking rocks at shadowy figures as if to demonstrate I was a stone-throwing badass - don't mess with me (which always works). And then someone started talking to me and suddenly it was a forested area where a bunch of homeless people were living in trees.

Now I was there with a few friends, and we were asking the tree-dwellers how they stay warm & dry as they showed us their setups. One forest tenant had a single-wide trailer suspended in the trees. We all went up to check it out.

We sat around the living room, which was a good-sized room, bigger than the trailer itself, talking and watching TV. A little while later we decided we'd better take off so we could catch the bus home. I thought it would be smart to make a pit stop first. I dashed across the hall from the living room and sort of crashed into the bathroom, unsteady on my feet.

The trailer bathroom was tiny - like an airplane bathroom, but even more narrow. You had to fold the sink up, like a Murphy Sink, out of the way, to get to the toilet. I sat down on the toilet and just as I sat down, the whole trailer felt unsteady below me, and I thought, "could this thing fall out of the tree?"

And then it did. It was falling, and there was no way out. I held my breath and braced myself as well as I could. I knew if I didn't die, I'd have to be dug out, because the sink had me totally blocked in. And I'm a tad claustrophobic. But what can you do?

I woke up. I woke up and man, did I have to pee.
